A sworn translator is a translator chosen by the Minister of Justice. To be sworn, the latter swore before an assembly, that is to say, they swore publicly.

Who delivers a sworn translation?

Only a sworn translator may translate an official document. They are registered in the list of experts defined by the Minister of Justice. It certifies that the translated document is consistent to the source document. The sworn translator title is valid throughout France. Although, a document translated abroad by a sworn translator is not necessarily valid in France.
